Church In Real Life
Show Them Jesus
The Teaching Team at Grace Hill endeavors to accurately, systematically, and thoroughly teach God's Word, through private discipleship, public teaching, and preaching, in order to equip men, women and children for growth toward Godly maturity, and to prepare leaders for effective ministry roles and responsibilities.
Teaching The Good News Of Jesus
The objective is not to help one another accumulate information. We desire Gospel transformation. As we teach, our hope is to point one another to the glorious, majestic, holy one, Jesus Christ. God’s Word is deep and we consider it great joy to return to His Word every week to proclaim the name of the greatest one who ever lived.
“Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.”
James 3:1
Please pray for the members of this team as they prepare during the week, and as they handle God’s Word in their individual teaching contexts.
Fire On The Hill
Last chance to come roast some marshmallows and engage in a conversation about the doctrines of grace this summer. Next Wednesday we will conclude our three month study through what is often referred to as the five points of Calvinism, encapsulated in the acronym T.U.L.I.P., and the heart of Reformed Protestant Theology.
Wednesday @ 7pm
What is the history behind these historic theological beliefs? Where does Scripture speak to God’s sovereignty, man’s depravity, and Christ’s particular redemption? How should these doctrines encourage evangelism, missions and worship? And, Why do these beliefs matter for you and how you live your daily lives?
August 31, 1843
In the providence of God, nine individuals came to the Wisconsin Territory with a desire to build on new land claims in the Town of Warren (now the Village of Merton). These individuals also came with a desire to worship their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And so, on August 31, 1843, a local church was formed. Their first convert was baptized 18 months later in the Bark River.
181 Years
A church building was built in 1855, which was used for worship until 2009 when a new building was built on 13 acres of farmland on the south edge of the Village. Originally named Warren Baptist Church and then for many years First Baptist Church of Merton, our name is now Grace Hill Church.
Three Names, One Gospel Message
One consistent theme throughout its long history has been a commitment to preserve and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are grateful to God for how He has kept His people faithful to the Gospel in the past, and we earnestly desire for God to continue that work in His people here in Merton and beyond for the Glory of His great name.
Dollars And Cents
Your constant, faithful and generous financial sacrifice for the ministry of Grace Hill is an evidence of God’s grace in your lives! Thank you for your joyful and generous hearts to give above and beyond the needs of Grace Hill Church in 2024!
Generous and Joyful Giving
We take money seriously. Your financial support is part of how you express your thankfulness to God for all He has done. So we aim to be faithful, prudent, and accountable for every dollar donated to our church. We take the stewardship of everything God provides us seriously, including your financial support. In an effort to ensure accountability and wise planning, the Pastoral Team has appointed a Finance Team. This team provides guidance to church leaders, publishes regular reports to our church members (see The Hill), and oversees our compliance with best practices.
Technology For You
There are few ministries happening in the life of the church that primarily exist behind the scenes. One such ministry consists of all that our Tech Team provides for our church. Though the fruits of their labor are something we regularly benefit from, these individuals are usually tucked away in the back corner on a Sunday morning, and their ministry is one which we rarely notice or acknowledge.
Pushing Buttons For The Glory Of God
Every week this team is hard at work serving us during the service to keep the lyrics moving, the mics working, and the website updated. We thank God for those willing to serve us behind the curtain, helping us accomplish the larger goal of bringing glory and honor to the great name of Jesus.
If you’re an aspiring tech guru and would like to join the Tech Team, please complete the form below and Deacon Jason will get connected with you!
A Growing Body
This Sunday we’ll welcome new members to Grace Hill Church! God has been faithful to build His church and continues to remind us of His goodness and kindness in the lives of those He leads through our doors. Come ready to celebrate as we affirm and welcome our new members during the service.
Christ Is Building His Local Church
Paul says in Ephesians 4:25 that we are “members one of another”. Church membership is more than a membership in a club. It’s an expression of our commitment to the people around us. The Scriptures are full of “one another” commands that show believers how to act in godliness toward other people. What Scripture makes clear is that these “others” refer to a specific group of people, not all people generally. These “others” are the men and women identified in a particular local church.
We Are Members One Of Another
As members of Grace Hill, we have the privilege of living out our lives with one another. We celebrate and grieve with one another. We build deep relationship with one another. We advance the joy of Jesus together. We help one another pursue holiness. We remind one another of the beauty of the gospel.
Pastors & Deacons
Jesus is the leader of his Church and he has called, qualified, and gifted individuals to imitate Him in the task of caring, guiding, teaching, and serving His people. They are servants who lay down their lives for others, accountable to God and to us.
Imperfect Men Serving A Perfect Savior
Two Offices, One Gospel Mission
Every second Tuesday of the month the Pastors and Deacons gather to pray, plan and set the vision for what comes next at Grace Hill Church. Their next meeting is Tuesday, August 13th. Your prayers and support have meant everything to these men. Your generosity and encouragement to those giving their time to serve you and the church has not gone unnoticed. Thanks for your loving and caring support. These men need your prayer more than you will ever know. Please continue to pray for God to lead them, and that the Spirit would unite them in purpose and vision.
August Youth Splash
Our next youth night is scheduled for Saturday, August 10th from 4-8pm at the Dobb's house. We plan to enjoy their pool (weather permitting - please pack swimsuits and towels), share a meal together, and continue our study through the Sermon on the Mount.
Saturday, August 10th | 4-8pm
We currently meet once a month to learn and grow. Every meeting is different. Sometimes it's a party. Sometimes it's a service project. Often we have deep theological conversations. 7th-12th graders from inside and outside the church are welcome to join.
One Night In Merton
Head over to Pollworth Park (Located at Whitetail Run and Bark River Road) on Tuesday, August 6th for the annual Village of Merton National Night Out. This is one of the few moments throughout the year where our neighbors in the Village gather together. If you’ve ever wanted to experience night life in Merton, then this the evening to venture out to the Village.
Tuesday, August 6th 6-9pm
Grab a friend from church and a neighbor and come see what’s happening in the Village of Merton. There will be food, community representatives, and entertainment. This is a phenomenal time to interact with people from the community and remind our neighbors that Grace Hill Church is here for the people of the Village.
